The Sentul Network Operations Centre (NOC), situated in Sentul Park, was carefully designed and built by leading telecommunications infrastructure development experts at YTL Construction, to house and support the network infrastructure for YTL Communications and their robust mobile network Yes 4G that provides nationwide population coverage across the country.

The Sentul NOC was developed and constructed in two phases. The first phase was completed in 2009 and houses the legacy network for ‘Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access’ (WiMAX). The second phase was completed in 2012 and it houses the present Yes 4G mobile networks for ‘Long Term Evolution Time-Division Duplex’ (LTE-TDD) and ‘Long Term Evolution Frequency-Division Duplex’ (LTE-FDD).

Activities > Telecommunications > 4G Rollout for YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (Yes)

YTL Construction’s expertise in sophisticated engineering design and innovative construction contracting transformed the vision of a pure 100% 4G network – the first in Malaysia – into a reality. The Yes network is built from the ground up with an all-IP architecture, making it the first and only all-4G and all-IP network provider in Malaysia.

Yes was officially launched on 19 November 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was the first in the world to commercially launch a converged 4G network at a national scale based on IEEE Broadband Wireless Access Standards (WiMAX). Since then, Yes has been aggressively pursuing network upgrades, launching 4G LTE services including VoLTE, and increasing the nationwide population coverage to 90%. These successes were largely contributed by YTL Construction’s engineering and implementation expertise in the civil, structural and electrical fields, to support the fast track rollout via construction and installation services of all telecommunications infrastructure for the Yes network.

Developed by Facebook, Terragraph allows people to enjoy fibre-like broadband speed without laying fibre cables. This advanced wireless technology will enable cities like Georgetown in Penang to leapfrog with quality broadband. Designed to use existing street structures, this first-in-Asia trial will enable rapid deployment of gigabit-level wireless connectivity to benefit more communities.

This is the first large-scale market trial that is designed to provide the Terragraph experience to the masses in a real environment.

YTL Construction installed 260 Terragraph nodes and 25 WiFi routers on 110 lamp poles in Georgetown, Penang, enabling fixed wireless access connectivity for businesses in the UNESCO heritage zones of Georgetown including free WiFi hotspots.

Activities > Telecommunications > Selangor State Telecommunications Infrastructure Upgrade

Konsortium Jaringan Selangor Sdn. Bhd. (KJS) was established in 1998 at the initiative of the Selangor State Government with the objective of being the sole state-backed company to implement and manage the rollout of all telecommunications network structures in Selangor. Since then, several other appointments have been awarded to KJS and its subsidiaries for matters pertaining to the planning, development, maintenance, operation and implementation of long-term strategies for all telecommunications infrastructure services throughout the states of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

As the main contractor and infrastructure builder for KJS, YTL Construction is heavily involved in the extensive range of telecommunications projects under KJS which includes building rooftop stations, Rapid Deployment Structures (RDS), lamp pole and monopole structures, and lattice tower structures with heights spanning 18 to 76 m.
