Employee Engagement

Being part of the YTL Group, we believe that our people are the greatest asset to our business and our success. Highlights

● YTL Learning Academy, set up during MCO, offered more than 40 training sessions in just 1 month
● Sent 37 YTL Construction newsletters throughout MCO to ensure constant engagement with staff
● Distributed Iftar meals from Majestic Hotel to almost 1,700 employees (and their families) during Ramadan
● Served Iftar meals to 540 staff from all sections in Johor during Ramadan
● Distributed groceries to 2,934 subcontractor workers for their Hari Raya celebrations

YTL Learning Academy

YTL Construction provides continuous training and development opportunities so that employees can work smartly, safely and effectively. We seek to develop employee skills using a variety of learning initiatives and on-the-job training involving a wide variety of subjects.

When the MCO was announced and working from home (WFH) was made mandatory in March 2020, we took the opportunity to organise a series of internal training sessions, made available twice daily from Monday to Friday. YTL Learning Academy is conducted online at no cost, fully coordinated by our own people, for our people. It offers numerous courses of various disciplines to ensure each staff member is able to connect with the available material. Throughout these courses, external speakers were also invited in order to allow different insights and perspectives, which was a great new experience for many of our employees.

At present, we are also aiming to expand the YTL Learning Academy throughout the calendar year to provide a continuous world-class learning opportunity for all our staff, anytime and anywhere.

COVID-19 Employee Support

● COVID-19 Hotline
During these unprecedented times, we remain committed to being connected with our people as much as possible. We understand how the pandemic has left everyone anxious and depressed, so we set up a 24-hour hotline centre to allow our employees to contact us at any time.

● COVID-19 Tips and Reminders
We also try to connect with our people through the use of technology by sharing tips and reminders with them via our newsletter. This is to ensure their mental health and psychosocial well-being are looked after during these challenging times.

COVID-19 Employee Support

● COVID-19 Iftar Meal Distribution
We provided Iftar meals for all our staff in corporate offices and on sites, working with The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur to ensure our employees living in the Klang Valley were able to enjoy freshly prepared meals together with their families. We also worked with local caterers who helped prepare meals for all our employees across YTL Construction’s site offices in Johor.

● COVID-19 Subcontractor Relief Aid
At YTL Construction, we value the commitment and hard work shown by each and every employee, including our subcontractor workers who have contributed greatly throughout the construction work of the GJBEDTP. Together with 11 of our subcontractor partners, we distributed essential food to 2,900 subcontractor workers to ease their burden in these difficult times, especially around the month of Aidilfitri.

COVID-19 Employee Support

● Social Media Engagement
Acknowledging the importance of a social media presence in today’s era, we started an Instagram account back in January 2020 to allow our people to interact with us. YTL Construction uses this platform to introduce employees to one another through the #ComeChat campaign, and to run exciting photo contests.
